Civil mediation is a structured process where a neutral and impartial mediator assists parties involved in a legal dispute to reach a mutually agreeable solution. Unlike a judge who imposes a decision, a mediator helps you communicate effectively, explore options, and work collaboratively to find a resolution tailored to your individual needs.
Neighbour Disputes (Including noise, property, and boundaries)
Contractual Disagreements
Consumer Disputes
Personal Injury Claims
Family Disputes
Landlord and Tenant Issues
Mediation is often significantly less expensive than traditional litigation, saving you time and legal fees.
Confidential
Discussions during mediation remain private, fostering a more open and comfortable environment for negotiation.
Preserving Relationships
Mediation encourages understanding and collaboration, allowing parties to potentially maintain a positive relationship beyond the dispute.
Time Efficient
Mediation can resolve disputes in a matter of days or weeks, compared to potentially lengthy court proceedings.
Control over the Outcome
You actively participate in shaping the agreement, leading to more satisfying and sustainable solutions.
How It Works
Initial Consultation
I will help you fully prepare before the mediation. This will typically involve having a confidential pre-meeting with each person involved. This allows you to share with me relevant information, ask questions, and to be ready to have the session.
Joint Mediation Session
As part of the process, I will bring everyone together in a neutral setting to facilitate productive conversations that will help narrow issues and start to work towards an agreement.
Focus on Solutions
I will work with each person to brainstorm options and negotiate terms. As your Mediator, I will help ensure fairness and equality. Where needed, I will share ideas and help you convey your points to the other side.
Reaching an Agreement
The aim of mediation is to try and reach an agreement. If a resolution is reached, I will assist in outlining a formal, written agreement that is known as a Mediation Agreement. This will be your record of the terms agreed with key action points.
